Darold Perkins led a multi-faceted life in the arts. After a dishonorable discharge from the military for “illicit relations with other men,” he moved to New York and worked as an actor, then studied art and began designing fabric and home décor for Gloria Vanderbilt, Martha Stewart and others. He also worked as a set designer and painted male nudes, and in this painting (the only example of his work we have seen in erotic magazines), we can see both of those combined.
